The October Magic Ivory Camellia from the Southern Living Plant Collection is a gorgeous addition to any landscape. This beauty produces quite ruffled, fully double blooms with a creamy white hue. Expect these flowers to begin appearing in huge numbers every fall. The foliage is quite dense, evergreen and dark green. The leaves are leathery and glossy, with serrated edges. This variety maxes out at 6 ft. - 8 ft. H and 5 ft. - 7 ft. W. It's a fantastic choice for lining a property, planting at structure corners or as a blooming privacy screen/noise-break. The October Magic Ivory Camellia is hardy from USDA Zones 7-9. However, we do recommend providing winter protection during hard freezes for the first winter in the landscape. Allow for 3-hours to 4-hours of direct sun or all-day filtered sun. Older plants can handle direct sun all day. Plant in rich acidic soil with good drainage. Water 2-3 times per week for the first growing season. Fertilize with a slow-release, acidic plant fertilizer in spring to promote new growth. Furthermore, apply 3 in. - 4 in. of mulch around the base of your new plant to help ensure success. These camellias are well-rooted in 2.5 Qt. pots and will be approximately 8 in. - 12 in. tall. They are not guaranteed to be in bloom on arrival.
