FireGuard for Fabrics is a revolutionary, water-based, flame-retardant treatment that can be easily and safely applied to clothing, draperies, furniture, carpets, rugs, and/or numerous other surface treatments. This product has been successfully tested in accordance with and meets the standards established by National Fire Protection Association Test Method NFPA 701 and Test STD ASTM D4850. The key to FireGuard ability to retard flames is its organic ammonium salt formulation. When exposed to flames or intense heat, an acidic catalysis occurs resulting in the formation of an inert gas that blankets the surface. Because of this blanket, there is no oxygen available at the surface and flames cannot form. FireGuard should only be used on water-safe fabrics and surfaces. If uncertainty exists, always test for suitability by applying the product to a small inconspicuous area of the item and wiping with a white cloth. For best results, apply to clean, dry surfaces. FireGuard can be applied either by spraying or dipping. When sprayed, it should be applied at a rate of 88 square feet per 22oz. spray bottle of FireGuard, depending upon the texture of the surface being treated. More absorbent surfaces will require heavier coverage. Cleaning or laundering treated surfaces may remove or dilute the treatment. To assure that item remains flame retardant, FireGuard should be reapplied after cleaning . Over-spray or spills can be easily cleaned with gentle detergent and water.
