This product includes 2 seedling heat mats, each measuring 10 in. x 20.5 in., providing a large heating area.​The core function of the heat mat is to provide a warm environment for plant roots. It can raise the temperature of the root area by up to 20° F above the surrounding air temperature, thereby effectively promoting seed germination and increasing the survival rate of seedlings and cuttings. It has a wide range of applications, not only for seedling insulation but also for heating fish tanks, providing warmth for pets, and more.​ The heat mat heats up quickly. With insulation on 1- side, the surface temperature can reach 95 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit; however, the surface temperature will vary slightly depending on the actual temperature of the indoor space. At the same time, it features uniform temperature distribution, with almost the same temperature in every corner of the heat mat, ensuring that growing plants are heated evenly and maintain balanced growth.​The usage method is simple and convenient: place the heat mat on a solid and well-drained surface, plug it into a power source, and then place plant trays, flower pots, or containers directly on the heat mat. For a warmer root environment, the heat mat can be placed on an insulated surface, but it should be avoided to place it on a cold floor. The product is specifically designed to make the root area temperature 10°F-20°F higher than the grow room temperature.​.

This HydroFarm 12 in. x 48 in. Propagation Mat provides bottom heat that enhances germination and rooting. It comes with a digital temperature controller. This seeding and propagation mat is 48 in. L and ideal for placing 2 standard trays end-to-end. It warms the rooting area to 10° to 20° above ambient temperature. Place it under a 4 ft. fluorescent fixture and ensure the bottom surface of your trays will be heated uniformly. The controller comes with an illuminator indicator light and a 3-prong ground plug, making it easy to hook up and use.

The digital thermostat enables gardeners to precisely set and maintain optimal temperatures to promote faster seed germination, cutting propagation, plant growth, and effective winter plant maintenance. It is compatible with heat mats and greenhouse heating systems with a maximum power draw of 15A or 1500W. For Heat Mat Use: Insert the probe approximately 1 to 1.5 in. into the root zone, or position it between the heat mat and a plant pot for accurate temperature monitoring. For Greenhouse Heater Use: Attach the probe using the suction cup mount to measure air temperature at the central area of the greenhouse. This ensures accurate control of electric greenhouse heaters or seedling heat mat systems. Important: Do not submerge the thermostat controller or probe in water.

Studies have proven that plants with a root zone that is kept warm thrive and propagate at a much faster rate than plants that do not. Simply place the Seedling Heat Mat on a flat, dry surface under a seedling tray and plug the cord into a 120 V outlet. For best results, use propagation dome over the seedling tray and keep it under T5 fluorescent lighting or in a greenhouse lighting environment. Direct sunlight or high HID lights may be too intense for seedlings.
